Important Service Update on Avian and Exotic Reference Ranges

As part of our ongoing commitment to excellent service and quality, IDEXX Reference Laboratories Ltd has invested in several equipment upgrades at our facilities across Canada.

As a result of these upgrades, avian and exotic reference intervals are being re-evaluated. New species specific reference intervals will be available when these studies are complete. In the interim we will not be publishing reference intervals on avian and exotic reports.

We have selected the following materials as a guide to assist you during this transition.

Fudge A, Laboratory Medicine – Avian and Exotic Pets. 2000. (Has appendices with SI units.)

Mader, D. – Reptile Medicine and Surgery – 2006. 2nd Ed. (Has references and ISIS value but requires conversion to SI units)

Harrison and Lightfoot. Clinical Avian Medicine – 2006. 2nd Ed (Requires conversion to SI units)

Dierauf and Gulland, 2001. Marine Mammal Medicine. 2nd Ed.
